Description

A renovation designed and delivered for a busy family of 5 with a love of entertaining and outdoor living.

The original floor plan was dated and didn’t allow a free flow from the lounge and kitchen to the expansive deck. With a love of entertaining, the primary focus was on designing a home that made outdoor entertaining easy.

The lounge and kitchen were opened up allowing a seamless blend and embracing the indoor / outdoor living this family desired.

The home now fully embraces the stunning 180degree views of the city and surrounds.

By entirely opening the space, a combined lounge and kitchen is created, allowing ease of ‘family flow’. The owners love how easy the space is to keep clean and tidy, with a place for everything. The enormous Island Bench is the true hub of the home, with built in ‘wireless charge points’ for devices, this space is perfect for ‘family life’.

The huge bi-fold door and windows completely open the home, allowing the breeze to flow freely throughout the home, cooling it through the summer months, whilst the morning winter sun warms the home perfectly through the cooler months.

Dividing the very large original laundry, into 3 separate spaces has completely transformed the way this space was used. Creating a downstairs “Powder Room” has made entertaining a breeze and prevents guests from having to navigate through the “kids wing” of the home This room was designed to encompass the existing laundry shute, that serves the upstairs master suite ensuring no functionality of the home was lost.

The newly created ‘Mudroom’ and Laundry adjoin via a cavity slider, allowing each room to serve it’s on purpose exclusively or be used as 1 space. Having 3 young, very busy children, the home owners were desperate for a room to store all ‘things school and sport related’, allowing easy access as you enter or exit the home. This room comfortably contains the day to day mess, minimising any ‘overflow’ into the living and entertaining areas.

Upstairs the master bedroom has been completely transformed into a true master suite. With such a large space to work with, it was a surprising challenge to design and fit everything the client wanted, whilst working within existing steel framing.

The, his and hers wardrobes and dressing tables speak for themselves – designed to have a place for everything possible, whilst allowing each person to display their own ‘personality’ in each of their spaces. The bedroom now perfectly frames the breathtaking view, giving a simple ‘WOW’ factor to the room. Shutters above the dividing walls maintain a cross flow of breeze through all areas, reducing mould and mildew in the wardrobes and reducing the need for air-conditioning in those hot summer months.

This is a shining example of how our service has evolved to the high standard we currently hold ourselves to. It really highlighted our collective work ethic, and the adjustments we can make in order to accommodate a client. Nothing is too much for us to handle, or too small to push aside.
